NAAHU Alumni Profile Series: College Horizons ED Carmen Lopez EdM '00

 

We are excited to welcome back College Horizons ED Carmen Lopez, Ed.M. '00. Carmen will discuss her experiences at Harvard (as a student and former Executive Director of HUNAP) and her tenure and leadership of College Horizons, a non-profit that supports Native American and Indigenous undergraduate and graduate students achieve their educational goals.

Carmen Lopez, Navajo Nation member, Ed.M. '00, obtained her A.B. from Dartmouth in 1997, and she grew up in Farmington, New Mexico. Her family also hails from the Forest Lake area of Black Mesa, Arizona. She has taught in New Mexico and Massachusetts and is a beloved former Executive Director of the Harvard University Native American Program (HUNAP), a role in which she served from 2003-2008.

After nearly 20 years on the East Coast, she returned home in 2009 to take the helm of the New Mexico-based College Horizons, a nonprofit organization that supports the college and graduate school goals of Native American students through workshops and other efforts to increase college access.

The event will be held on Zoom on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 4:00pm ET.
